Wholesale Banking provides financial solutions to businesses across the United States and globally.  Our four major business lines include Corporate & Investment Banking, Commercial Banking, Commercial Real Estate, and Wells Fargo Commercial Capital.  We also have groups in credit risk, group risk, finance, marketing, human relations, and the Wholesale Chief Operating Office that support our businesses

The Wholesale Control (WC) organization serves as the front line risk management organization within the Wholesale Banking group of Wells Fargo supporting the Wholesale businesses with risk strategy, implementation, and execution.  The Wholesale Control team is accountable to assess and effectively manage risks across all risk types and Wholesale businesses delivering an integrated view of risks, producing a sustainable control environment, and instilling a culture of strong risk management.  The team is responsible to identify and assess risks, design and implement controls, and execute and monitor the controls to ensure they are working effectively to manage risk across Wholesale.  Wholesale Control interfaces with Independent Risk Management and Audit to drive comprehensive and consistent implementation of regulatory and corporate risk policies and programs across Wholesale. 

The Role

As part of the Wholesale Operational Risk Control - Technology and Data Risk Team, the Line of Business  Control Manager leads a team who is responsible for providing support for the integration and ongoing oversight of controls relating to Information Risk (inclusive of Privacy and Records Management), Technology Risk, Information Security Risk, Data Management Risk, Safety/Physical Security Risk and ADA/Digital Properties compliance.  This leader and will be the primary conduit for ensuring that applicable technology and data controls based on Corporate Policies and Laws/Rules/regulations are being performed within the Wholesale Line of Business .  The Front Line unit Technology and Data Control Manager will support one or multiple Business units within Wholesale to include Corporate Banking, Corporate & Investment Banking, Commercial Real Estate, Commercial Capital, Investment Portfolio, Wholesale COO, and International.

Individual Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary Liaison between the Wholesale Operational Risk Control - Technology and Data Team and the Business Control teams within Wholesale Control with regards to Operational Risk -Technology and Data Risk.  Build strong relationships with Business Control Managers and Business Partners.
  • Understand Enterprise Risk Programs and policies in order to identify and assess operational program risks in the business.
  • Collaborate with the Wholesale Operational Risk Control - Technology and Data Program Leads to ensure the requirements of the enterprise risk management programs are consistently being met by the line of business.
  • Escalate elevated program risks to stakeholders within the Business, Wholesale Control, and Independent Risk Management.
  • Assist the business in the design and implementation controls to mitigate program risk within the business. Assist the business with addressing identified risk issues and implementing corrective actions.
  • Establish risk governance and reporting routines to keep key stakeholders aware of relevant risks, issues, and remediation plans.
  • Assist with training and promote awareness of requirements relating to Technology and Data Risk Policies and Programs.
  • Provide relevant stakeholders a view of how Technology and Data Risk relates to Business Processes, Technology Application Architecture, and Products within supported Front Line units.
  • Lead your team with integrity and create an environment where your team members feel included, valued, and supported to do work that energizes them.
  • Accomplish management responsibilities which include sourcing and hiring talented team members, providing ongoing coaching and feedback, recognizing and developing team members, identifying and managing risks, and completing daily management tasks

Team members support our focus on building strong customer relationships balanced with a strong risk mitigating and compliance-driven culture, which firmly establishes those disciplines as critical to the success of our customers and company. They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following and adhering to applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit’s risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.



Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 10+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 5+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both
  • 5+ years of management experience

  • Proven experience in building partnerships, collaborating and influencing at all levels and across lines of business and corporate partners.
  • Ability to manage conflict and provide credible challenge to the business on risk- and control-related items.
  • Demonstrated qualitative and quantitative problem solving skills.
  • High degree of initiative and strong ability to meet principal accountabilities with limited direction and oversight; prioritize and organize work with limited supervision while still meeting deadlines.
  • Exceptional communication abilities, with strong influence and negotiation skills.
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills to enable data analysis and storytelling that support a risk position.
  • Experience leading teams.
  • Experience in one of more of the following Risk Programs: Information Security, Technology Risk, Data Management, Information Risk (Privacy, Records Management) ADA, or Digital Properties.
  • Experience in or supporting Wholesale businesses.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Process Design and or Six Sigma Black Belt / Master Black Belt Certifications.
  • Experience in a Technology environment with understanding of Application Operations, Technology Architecture, and Technology Initiatives.

 



Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
