Wholesale Banking provides financial solutions to businesses across the United States and globally.  Our four major business lines include Corporate & Investment Banking, Commercial Banking, Commercial Real Estate, and Wells Fargo Commercial Capital.  We also have groups in credit risk, group risk, finance, marketing, human relations, and the Wholesale Chief Operating Office that support our businesses. Wholesale Financial Crimes Risk Control

The Wholesale Financial Crimes Risk Control (WFCRC) team is responsible for the coordination, assessment and execution of Wholesale Banking’s Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering (BSA/AML) Program. Specifically, WFCRC ensures that Wholesale Banking complies with Wells Fargo’s Enterprise BSA/AML Program and applies the Enterprise Program to Wholesale Banking to effectively manage BSA/AML risk. WFCRC provides the central governance for all Wholesale Banking lines of business ("LOB") to drive consistency in approach, interpretation and execution, while coordinating and partnering with each LOB financial crimes team to ensure accountability and ownership remain within each LOB. This team will report to the Wholesale Group Control Executive in the first line of defense, which is accountable for assessing and effectively managing all risks, including BSA/AML, within Wholesale Banking. WFCRC will partner with line of business ("LOB"), operations, risk and compliance team members, Wholesale Control Executive Office, Enterprise Financial Crimes Risk Management, Wells Fargo Audit Services, and Testing & Validation to advocate and ensure alignment in scope, purpose, expectations and execution of the Wholesale Financial Crimes Program. The team will achieve this through a focus on strong communication, strategic planning, thoughtful and meaningful tracking/reporting, and timely escalation and change management.

Wholesale Financial Crimes Operations

The Wholesale Financial Crimes Operations (FCO) team performs centralized operational functions to comply with enterprise and regulatory BSA/AML requirements. The FCO performs multiple centralized operations functions that support front line businesses’ Know-Your-Customer requirements and determine risks associated with customer relationships in order to document acceptance and mitigate controls. FCO is responsible for coordinating with numerous stakeholder groups and front line businesses to manage interdependent programs/projects, as well as coordinate changes driven by BSA/AML requirements and business needs.

Quality Control Adherence

The Quality Control Adherence team is responsible for driving quality control standards across the FCO and front line operational teams. This team will align quality control standards and expectations with current and future risk management requirements and strategies. The Quality Control team will be responsible for identifying opportunities within other WFCRC teams to address quality concerns, and working across FCO and front line teams to take appropriate measures to correct control areas and gaps. This team will be responsible for trending and training teams to improve quality and train the groups on ways to improve. The team will also work with US/OUS operational and program teams and WFCRC Control Assurance to drive the program and consistency.

Job Description

The Quality Control Consultant will be part of the Quality Control Adherence team.  He/She will participate in the testing and monitoring of work performed by Financial Crimes Operations and Wholesale Businesses.  Task include, but not limited to:

  • Perform and document review activities related to Financial Crimes Operational processes
  • Perform review activities that will provide reasonable assurance that controls are designed and operating effectively
  • Ensure all review results are stored according to Quality Control Adherence standards
  • Maintain knowledge of latest guidance on review activities
  • May manage project teams
  • Provide guidance to less experience consultants
  • Provide training and guidance to internal team members, as required

The scope of work will expand as the Quality Control program incorporates additional review functions over time.

Team members support our focus on building strong customer relationships balanced with a strong risk mitigating and compliance-driven culture which firmly establishes those disciplines as critical to the success of our customers and company. They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following and adhering to applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit’s risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 6+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 3+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both

  • Wholesale banking experience
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment
  • Ability to proactively manage and mitigate issues
  • Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS)
  • Quality control review experience
  • Experience using business knowledge and critical thinking
