The UNM Division of Human Resources is a progressive, collaborative, and customer-focused organization with talented and cohesive staff all committed to delivering exceptional service and resources to make employees' lives better every day. We currently seek a Human Resources Consultant to join our Client Services team. Utilizing knowledge of laws, policies and regulations - the Human Resources Consultant will provide advice and problem resolution to university clients on various complex and difficult human resource issues.

Duties & responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

· Serve as a business partner / HR generalist to a set of clients on all human resources practices, policies, and procedures, including employee relations, FMLA, ADA, performance management, employee engagement and retention, recruitment, staffing, compensation, and training.

· Assist and partner with leadership teams in the development and implementation of initiatives that enable the organization to achieve its strategic goals.

· Be an active participant in work teams that develop and improve processes, programs, strategies, policies/procedures, and/or recommendations.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience as an HR generalist, with knowledge and experience in all aspects of the HR function and experience in the following:
    • Guiding management throughout the full life-cycle of employees to include hiring practices, employee coaching, and employee relations.
    • Developing solutions to problems that require a degree of ingenuity, creativity, and innovation. Must be able to effectively serve and educate front-line and mid-level leaders and hiring managers.
    • Applicant tracking systems and HR/Payroll systems.
    • Assisting with investigation and analysis of HR issues.
  • Current HRCI, SHRM, or other HR Certification.
  • Ability to build collaborative working relationships with colleagues and customers; strong consultative, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
