Provides professional Training services to our business units, local management and employees. Focuses on providing high performance, high caring, and purpose driven services for a diverse workforce to achieve the ????company’s vision, mission, values and strategic direction.

Works in conjunction with the entire Human Resource Department in its efforts to support, by means of strategic collaboration and partnerships with, the varied Toyota Tsusho businesses in North America as assigned by HR Management.

The use of the term “the company” or “employees” is defined as Toyota Tsusho America, Inc. and/or any affiliate that may be assigned to the HR Specialist by HR Management.


Training and Development

  • Create company related training (both eLearning courses and live training presentations), facilitate train the trainer sessions and upload company training into LMS
  • Conduct Training needs analysis and evaluation
  • Facilitate and coordinate Regional and Global Training Programs
  • Coordinate training with other Corp Services departments (e.g., Accounting, Legal, Safety, etc.) and business units
  • Draft & propose curricula for groups of employees
  • Developing and monitoring metrics for evaluating training and development effectiveness
  • Researching various soft-skills training topics (leadership, communication, motivation etc.)
  • Maintain electronic training records and systems
  • Create electronic surveys and analyzing large amounts of data
  • May select and/or oversee vendors to develop training content or conduct training

Training and Development Other

  • Utilize the company’s online Learning Management System (LMS) to schedule, assign and otherwise track any employee training that is conducted
  • Schedule facilitate and record training information to local management and employees
  • Facilitate and record new hire orientation and management employee orientation
  • Work with local management to determine location-specific training needs.
  • Create and facilitate such trainings, as needed. Use company training/competency matrix as a standard reference
  • Work with employees to determine individual training needs and recommend courses internally provided or externally. Use company training/competency matrix as a standard reference
  • Facilitate the use of the company’s career development plan on-line system and aid employees to access and navigate the system.
  • Coordinate the utilization of company’s internal coaching programs, assist in the scheduling and coordination of such programs and help determine best resources whether internal or external
  • Facilitate, schedule and instruct on the company’s problem solving process (PDCA) training as needed
  • Coordinate the administration of Global Training Programs such as BDP, LDP and GALP as needed
  • Assist with talent development activities such as competency rating, high potential individual development and succession planning
  • May be required to perform other related duties as the need arises and as directed by HR Management

Safety and Security – Security

  • Maintain the safe and secure storage and handling of company and employee data, property and confidential information in accordance with TAI policies and procedures
  • Continuously monitor the workplace, both online and physically, for potential safety and security risks/violations and report any risks or issues to HR Management
  • Respond with caution to any suspicious person, behavior, activity or item immediately and report to HR Management, Legal, and/or other management
  • Uphold and follow all IT and Safety and Security policies such as the use of proper personal protective equipment, access badges and password protection and the use of external devices, drives, software or applications
  • May be required to perform other related duties as the need arises and as directed by HR Management


  • Review and submit to monthly bills and expense reports to ensure timely and accurate payment
  • Participate in special projects as assigned
  • Assist in cross-training others

Required Skills


Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Training & Development, Organizational Development or Human Resources Development preferred or equivalent education/experience combination. Position requires the ability to understand all aspects of the business and ability to influence all levels of management.

At least 3 years of experience in a Training Professional or related role

Must be able to speak in front of large groups of people, facilitate training and eLearning.

Personality / Skills Assessments experience a plus

Must have mastery of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Notes, Internet, MS Publisher, E-mail and Learning Management System.


Fluent in English, is helpful to speak little Japanese, and speak, read, and write in Spanish.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Problem solving and conflict resolution skills
