HR Coordinator- paid internship

Assists and facilitates the Human Resources processes and systems consistently across all functional areas of HR. This role monitors compliance with applicable Federal, State, and local laws as well as regulations from other applicable agencies, notifies managers of potential issues and proposes corrective action. Compiles and maintains personnel files and maintenance of HCM. This role provides administrative support to the human resource function as needed, including recording-keeping, file maintenance and HRIS entry.
Essential Functions Statement(s)
Records employee status updates, such as change of address, departmental transfers, rate increases and terminations in the HRIS.
Administers health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes and terminations.
Informs Payroll department of any changes to employee status and monitors accuracy of payroll and documented hours.
Schedules hourly interviews with hiring managers and candidates
Coordinates background screening, license verification and reference checks of candidates.
Organizes the new hire and onboarding processes, including review of company policies, collection and processing of new hire paperwork and completion of orientation.
Completes verifications of employment independently.
Schedules and monitors various training programs.
Oversees employee evaluations, including meeting coordination, performance review finalization, and follow-up with supervisors.
Receives and addresses employee questions regarding company policies, procedures and benefit plans.
Completes I9, verifies I9 documentation and maintains I9 files.
Makes photocopies, mails, scans and emails documents; and performs other clerical functions.
Research projects, such as vendor comparisons, morale planning, swag costs comparisons, etc.
