Provides a variety of human resource functions including employee relations, recruitment, counseling and compensation functions for the hospital. Performs secretarial, technical, and administrative support for the department
*Compiles and maintains information/documents/files to support established departmental objectives, policies and procedures, JCAHO/regulatory agency standards and regulations.
*Responsible for initiating payroll records for new employees and performing the payroll functions for all employees. Monitors Time Care for accuracy and performs Time Care computer entry and processes checks for distribution. Researches and resolves employee questions regarding pay checks. Responsible for processing accurate manual paysets and maintaining payroll records.
*Serves as the primary resource and entry level recruiter for the hospital by operating appropriate employment systems to include screening, testing, negotiating starting salaries according to compensation guidelines, making job offers, regrets, new hire paperwork, acquiring license information/verification, initiating background checks per policy and checking references. Assists managers with, recruitment and interprets policies and procedures related to new hire process.
*Provides secretarial support to include: correspondence in new hire process, correspondence to NM Board of Nursing, data entry of employee information/maintenance and new hires to HRIS, query of HRIS for information for various processes and communicates information to employees and managers by memos/reminders.
Advises and assists management staff with interpretation and application of personnel policies and procedures, legal, grievance, discipline and termination process under the direction of the HR Manager.
Assists HR Manager and Employee Health Nurse in the administration of specific insurance programs such as workers compensation, unemployment benefits and short-term disability.
*Serves as a backup in the absence of the Human Resources Manager. Assists HR Manager with New Employee Orientation, FMLA, ADA, employee relation issues, recruitment and retention and conducts employee exit interviews.
*Serves as the primary resource for employees with information on their benefits by operating appropriate benefits systems. Assist employees in benefit enrollment.
*Perform research in support of the HR Managers requirements. This typically involves running and analyzing queries from the HR system and/or detailed file reviews.
*Reviews personnel files to determine relevant years of experience for internal equity placements and new hire placements. Coordinates and confirms information with HR Manager. Responsible for presenting accurate information on compensation programs to new employees. Initiates and tracks sign-on and relocation bonuses.
*Maintain and sustain knowledge base in HR by participation in professional associations and attending educational sessions as appropriate or required.
*Serves as resource in assisting with software applications.
*Participates in Performance Improvement. Assists with special projects as needed.
Bachelors degree in human resources or related field required or 6 years of experience in lieu of degree. One to three years of experience in human resources.
