Position Summary:

Responsible for the management, preparation and disbursement of national payroll in a multi-state environment using HRIS/Payroll and time & attendance software. This includes the accurate processing of employee deductions and timely submission of tax payments.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Supervise and manage payroll team including recruiting, onboarding, training performance management and feedback.
  • Audit, and oversee the processing of payroll, in accordance with local, State and Federal labor law guidelines/regulations. Ensure timely and accurate processing
  • Review computed wages and correct errors to ensure the accuracy of earnings and hours. Verify that all payroll changes are processed correctly.
  • Compile and prepare of employee garnishments. Work with outside agencies on discrepancies and communicate to assigned HR as needed.
  • Process all pay payroll taxes in accordance with federal and state tax requirements.
  • Work closely with Human Resources and Accounting on all payroll related issues.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and employee files.
  • Work closely with the Director Compensation & Benefits to ensure accurate benefit deductions and record keeping. Assist with year end audit reports.
  • Process termination checks as requested by Human Resources.
  • Prepare special reports requested by management.
  • Work successfully within team environment assisting other members of the team when needed.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Three (3) years prior experience as a payroll manager, or five (5) years prior experience as a payroll supervisor with a strong knowledge of multi-state payroll, tax rules and regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel) is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Strong attention to detail, strong sense of urgency and ownership is required.

Excellent ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.

  • Ability to manage and lead staff to excellent performance.
  • Experience processing payroll within an HRIS/Payroll platform software is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field strongly preferred.
  • Experience processing payroll within an ADP platform, specifically Vantage, is strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience with tax filings in multiple states is preferred.
  • Previous experience with Multi-FEIN and Multi-state processing is preferred.
  • Proficiency in SAP is preferred.
  • Certified Payroll Professional -- CPP is preferred.
