Job Description

Payroll Specialist II (Central Office)

Department:Secretarial/Clerical
Location:Lewiston, ME

Must have experience working with Munis software

$16.49 - $20.21/hour

SUMMARY:  

Works with minimal supervision; prepares documents and accurately processes all weekly and bi-weekly payrolls for Lewiston School Department. Works closely with school and district administration, human resources, employees, and third-parties to ensure compliance with internal controls, labor and tax laws, and all grant-related regulations. Salary Range:  $16.49 to $20.21 per hour.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Other duties may be assigned: 

  • Strong attention to detail required
  • Assists with calendar year end processing
  • Experience with ERP payroll systems
  • Understands labor laws as it applies to regular time, overtime, and comp time calculations
  • Has an understanding of federal and state labor laws and internal controls
  • Processes employee benefit elections
  • Enters and prepares daily attendance
  • Intermediate/Advanced Excel knowledge base required
  • Workers compensation knowledge and experience required
  • Reviews and reconciles monthly benefit invoices
  • Works directly with Payroll Supervisor and Human Resource Director
  • Has strong customer service skills
  • Document retention knowledge and experience in accordance with law
  • Liaison between Lewiston Public Schools and vendors
  • Supports the Human Resource Dept. on-boarding process of new hires
  • Supports the annual financial audit process a needed
  • Works cooperatively as a team member within the Business Office and the District Office
  • Has working knowledge of Munis Financial System
  • Maine State Retirement knowledge
  • 403 b knowledge

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or Business.  Will consider experience in lieu of education
