Vice President , System Laboratory Services - Indiana University Health is Indiana's most comprehensive health system, with 16 hospitals and more than 34,000 team members serving Hoosiers across the state. The Vice President, System Laboratory Services is responsible for working with IU Health Physicians (IUHP) pathology leadership, and other key stakeholders to shape the strategic vision and priorities for the IU Health laboratory service line. Areas of oversight include system laboratory operations for clinical and anatomic pathology, reference lab testing, point of care, phlebotomy, outreach, and financial operations and esoteric operations. The incumbent will be expected to lead the laboratory team to deliver best in class customer service, improve productivity and grow volume and share of market for the service line. He or she must possess strong analytical and relationship building skills, and the demonstrated ability to achieve results by leading teams in complex organizations. This role interfaces with regional senior leadership and front-line team members and drives change management across the lab service line. The Vice President - System Laboratory Services will use expertise in Leadership Development, Coaching, Training and Talent Management and Organization Performance Improvement to drive a wide variety of programs, policies and initiatives designed to build a preeminent team and advance lab and pathology operational quality and efficiency. This position reports to the President, System Clinical Services and works closely with the Chairman of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the IU School of Medicine.QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES A Master's (or advanced) Degree in Health Administration, Business Administration, or related field strongly preferred. Requires a minimum of 10 years progressive leadership experience.Regulatory experience very helpful (e.g., CAP, CLIA, FDA). Experience utilizing Lean Process Improvement Tools to improve operations Requires an experienced executive with a proven track record and broad understanding of managing complex operations in a service or manufacturing environment. Prior experience working in healthcare or a hospital system is a plus. Ability to lead a complex organization through changing dynamics in healthcare, including the increased fiscal pressure on academic priorities and a migration towards population health. Strong demonstrated transformational skills (inspiring, problem solving, communication across multiple organizations, executing) to provide evidence-based leadership, and the ability to utilize these skills with all levels of team members, management and community leaders is required. Requires a blend of management skills with technical expertise proven by superior planning, decision making, negotiation, leadership, business and financial management skills/knowledge with a focus on adding value to the bottom line of the business to foster a preeminent healthcare environment. Requires an excellent executive presentation and communication skills with the ability to inspire and inform. Requires a strong business, planning, communication and financial skillset with the ability to manage complex projects involving multiple stakeholders. Requires a demonstrated experience and excellence in coaching, collaborating and influencing; a proven leader of people who is able to recruit, develop and mentor a top-notch team capable of supporting future growth and has demonstrated leadership in promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace and community.
