Job Description

Position Summary & Responsibilities
ITT is looking for an HR Generalist to provide part-time (24 hours/week) HR consultation and services to the Connect and Control Technologies employees and business leaders who are based in Santa Rosa, CA.    This is a role that reports to the HR Business Partner in Irvine and partners with our ITT corporate HR organization on a wide-range of HR activities.   As the first point of contact for candidates and our employees, you will set an incredible example of our culture with every communication and interaction.  
  • Drives the hiring process by working closely with hiring managers to level new positions, post, source, screen, schedule interviews, follow up and close successful candidates.
  • Owns the new employee onboarding process and ensures support to both managers and employees as part of the new hire process.
  • Leads employee engagement initiatives and process improvements to promote a healthy high performance culture.
  • Drafts engaging organizational announcements that provide our employees with useful updates on HR services and business information.
  • Provides advice and counsel to employees and leaders on employee relations issues to facilitate a positive resolution of work-related conflicts.
  • Assists employees with interpretation/understanding of company policies and responds to inquiries and concerns; assuring that employee perspectives are heard and considered.
  • Conducts thorough and objective investigations as needed, helps assess risk and makes recommendation on the appropriate course of action. Escalates more complex, sensitive or business-critical cases to the HR Business Partner.
  • Partners with the HR Service Center and Centers of Excellence on projects including: merit reviews, Workday audits, compliance training, etc.
  • Manages the exit interview process; identifies opportunities and areas of concern requiring follow-up.
  • Partners with EHS to pro-actively address improvements to our safety culture and assists with managing & monitoring Workers Compensation claims.
  • Partners with the HR Business Partner in managing and submitting a yearly Affirmative Action Plan to ITT Corporate.

Position Requirements
Qualifications and Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field/discipline.
  • 5+ years of increasing Human Resources Generalist experience, preferably in mid to large size manufacturing organizations.
  • Customer-focused, proactive, positive and driven to achieve departmental and corporate goals in a fast paced environment.
  • Strong consultative skills and ability to partner with managers/professionals to understand needs and deliver solutions that meet or exceed expectations.
  • Experience in an array of areas: recruiting, employee development, employee relations, training, compensation, benefits and performance management.
  • Track record of investigating and resolving employee relations issues.
  • Knowledge of employment   laws including Federal and California Leave Laws
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; can position information so it resonates with our employees.
  • World-class problem-solving, critical thinking and relationship skills.
  • Good analytical skills and must be proficient in MS Office.
  • Ability to multitask and meet daily deadlines.
