POSITION SUMMARY

 

Prepares and processes Hoosier Energys payroll and benefits. Provides statistical information relating to Hoosier Energys payroll, benefits and employee demographics. Serves as liaison to employees in order to answer and address employees questions regarding compensation, benefits and company policies. Provides information to outside companies such as IBEW, insurance, retirements and 401k plan administrators regarding updates to employee salary, demographics and employment status.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyzes, prepares and verifies input for all aspects of payroll and benefit processing, including changes in employee information, deductions, time entry and reconciliation, payroll tax reporting and fund transfers. Consolidates time entry records from power plants. Performs various journal entries, account reconciliations and provides general ledger account support. Uses automated HRIS system to produce accurate and timely payroll under fluctuating time constraints. Monitors and administers compliance with leave policies on a corporate-wide basis. Monitors and administers compliance with IBEW contract provisions applicable to pay and benefits. Prepares bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end tax reports and forms and files with Federal and State agencies in a timely manner.

  • Develops, processes or provides assistance concerning payroll related information (i.e. payroll and benefits, surveys, credit references, court orders and garnishments). Assists supervisors with questions concerning proper payroll application of company policy regarding overtime, paid and unpaid leave.

  • Monitors and processes enrollments in employee benefit programs. Reconciles premium statements to payroll deduction and self-pay billings. Strives to ensure employee understanding of benefits programs. Ensures that programs are carried out in accordance with companys policies and procedures.

  • Administers Hoosier Energys FMLA program, including employee contact and assistance, filing of documents, reports and correspondence, and coordination with all appropriate parties throughout the process.

  • Creates, retrieves, and analyzes employee data as required by Supervisors, Managers and Vice Presidents.

  • Assists with wellness program delivery as needed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Accounting or Business related field required.

  • Certified professional in payroll (CPP), benefits (CBP/CEBS) or human resources (PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) preferred.

Experience:

  • Five or more years experience in payroll, benefits and human resources

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate with individuals at all levels and work as part of a team.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • High level of confidentiality required.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat and other company software.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects with varying scopes and timelines.

  • Broad knowledge of payroll taxes, deductions and tax treatment and government payroll regulations.
