    I. General Description:

    To perform complex accounting and secretarial duties requiring use of independent judgment and a broad knowledge of District policies, procedures, programs, and organizational structure under light supervision or direction.

    II. Qualifications:
    1. Must possess high school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by appropriate business courses.
    2. Previous payroll experience preferred.
    3. Must possess excellent skills in secretarial techniques.
    4. Must be proficient in data entry.
    5. Must complete a series of secretarial tests with a high degree of proficiency.
    6. Must possess a thorough knowledge in the use of office machines and personal computers.
    7. Must possess a minimum of five years secretarial experience, preferably working in a school district setting.
    8. Must possess an ability to deal effectively with matters of confidentiality.
    9. Must possess a pleasant personality and telephone manner.
    10. Must possess an ability to work cooperatively with the general public.

    III. Duties and Responsibilities:
    1. Assists with the calculation, processing and distribution of payrolls.
    2. Researches discrepancies, assists in compiling, verifying and maintaining payroll information and/or documentation (e.g. time sheets, leave time, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring accuracy and adherence to procedures prior to processing.
    3. Assists with the preparation and submission of a variety of payroll related reports for the purpose of governmental and agency reporting and compliance.
    4. Responsible for preparation of Compensated Absence report as required by auditors for GASB 45 compliance.
    5. Communicates effectively with internal and external parities for the purpose of ensuring accurate payroll processing and reporting.
    6. Responsible for employment verification.
    7. Assists in the editing and processing of non-exempt employee timesheets in the district’s mandated timekeeping system.
    8. Maintains confidentiality of information regarding students, staff, parents and school issues.
    9. Performs responsibilities in an ethical and professional manner.
    10. Provides a welcoming atmosphere to staff, students, parents and community.
    11. Performs other related duties as assigned.

    IV. Status:

    FLSA – Non-Exempt
